Create a Free Account and build your website at jimdo

To create a free account at jimdo.com, click on “start now” the register using your email address and a newly created password. You can as well sign up using your Facebook or Google accounts. After registering, you can then log in, and your website will appear in edit mode. In this mode, a sidebar (menu) will be on the right or left.

Start With a Template

Once you sign in to your account, Jimdo will present you with a variety of templates to choose from. The template you select at this stage doesn’t matter much because you’ll be able to change it later. You’ll also be able to rearrange and add content to your website or change colors and fonts. A new template comes with placeholders that you can change to content that’s relevant to your business. To change the content of a placeholder, just click on it, and a small menu will appear to help you make the changes you want. You can delete a placeholder, edit it, move it, or make its copy.

Building Your Website

Once you’ve chosen the right template for your website, you can now go ahead and start building the website. You do this by adding images, text, headings, slideshows, and more. Jimdo allows you to add content in blocks using a feature referred to as an Element. For instance, there’s Video Element, Maps Element, Photo Element, Text Element, etc. Text Elements come with tools that you can use to edit text, add links, etc. A Photo Element has tools for uploading image files, re-sizing them, adding captions, and more.

Finding Graphics And Photos For The Website

Adding Elements To Your Website

To build a website that has all the features you want, you’ll have to add new elements. To do this, move the cursor to the place where you want to add the item. A black box that’s written “Add Element” will appear. Click on it. You’ll be presented with a variety of options, including photos, text, headings, etc. Choose the element you want by clicking on it. It will instantly appear on your website. Jimdo has many elements that you can view in their help center.

Creating Website Pages

A new Jimdo website usually comes with three pages: Home Page, About Page, and Contact Page. A navigation menu that visitors to your website can use to view these pages is at the top of the website. You can edit your navigation menu to reorder, copy, delete, or add pages. To do this, hover the cursor over the navigation menu. You’ll see a blue box written “Edit Menu” appearing. Click on it. You’ll see a gray box with a list of all your website pages. From there, you can reorder, copy, delete, or add pages.

Connecting Your Domain

Once you finish building your website, the next step is to have your domain connected so you can share your website with your clients. With Jimdo Business and Jimdo Pro, your subscription will include a free domain. If you have a domain you purchased from elsewhere, you can still have it connected to your Jimdo website. For a free user, your website will appear as a sub-domain of Jimdo.
