The debate has been rife for a good few years now but which is better, wired or Bluetooth headphones?
It has been well known for some time that the good old 3.5 jack is going to become obsolete, and this has led to quite the outcry. We live in a modern world of WiFi and wireless technology and wired headphones and earphones are going to be the latest to suffer because of it.
The debate is split however, while there is a good portion of people that believe wired headphones cannot be beaten for sound quality, others believe that Bluetooth headphones are the future because of their convenience.
The question is, where do you fall in this debate? Are you a fan of the traditional wired headphone that dates back over 100 years, or do you think it is time for wireless headphones to take the top step? You might even feel that there is a place for both!
Reasons to Wear Wired Headphone
Even those that swear by Bluetooth headphones admit that wired speakers still have the better sound quality – just. How long this will last is anyone’s guess, but if you are an audiofile, you are likely to prefer the good old jack over no wires at all. Similarly, music professionals and gamers will choose wired over bluetooth just because of that extra quality of sound.
Sound quality is the only advantage that wired headphones have, so on that score, you can kind of see why this technology might reach its end.
Reasons to Wear Bluetooth Headphones
Many believe that it is only a matter of time before Bluetooth headphones offered by leading brands such as Marshall overtake or at least equal the sound quality provided by their wired brothers. They also claim that there is not much difference in it, even now.
So, what are the reasons to wear Bluetooth earphones? Well, they offer a lot more convenience. How many times have you snagged a wire and pulled an earphone out, thus hurting your ear? How many times have they got tangled up with your clothes? Having no wires is the obvious selling point as it eliminates the problems above.
With that in mind, Bluetooth headphones and earphones will appeal to students, those who like to exercise or workout, or even take regular walks, and those commuting. We cannot underestimate the freedom that no wires give you.
Which are You?
The way we see it is that there is a good reason to have a pair of both. When you are chilling at home and just want to listen to some music, grab your wired phones. For anything else other than gaming, you are going to want a wire-free experience. It is quality versus convenience as price does not really come into it. You can pay from $10 up to $1,000+ for either type of headphone – though be aware that you get what you pay for.
