The use of a wireless speaker enables high-quality music playback while providing the convenience of keeping your smartphone in your pocket. If you want to move the speaker around a lot or carry it around the house, it is also convenient to have enough battery life to listen for at least a day.

Although wireless speakers are more difficult to operate and set up, they support additional network features and functionality. The wireless speaker can support Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.0, as well as other wireless technologies such as Bluetooth 2.1, Bluetooth 3.5 or Bluetooth 5.2.

Most wireless speakers will work with Bluetooth, but some of the more expensive models go a step further. They also have Bluetooth connectivity, particularly Bluetooth aptX, which allows them to stream high-resolution audio tracks. Phones can connect to a wireless speaker via Bluetooth or Wi-Fi, depending on the connectivity technology your speaker supports.
Compared to speakers that are transmitted over Wi-Fi, Bluetooth speakers are straightforward and easy to use. If you are wondering if your speaker supports Wi-Fi, you can open the Settings app on your smartphone.

It is true that connecting wi-fi at home opens up many more possibilities for your speakers. Standard Bluetooth speakers can still be great for the home, but you can also achieve an even bolder sound by combining speakers. You can connect multiple people to a single Bluetooth speaker and fill a large room with high-resolution tunes. These Bluetooth speakers, which cost less than $200, also deliver impressive sound and are extremely portable.

You will also find waterproof Bluetooth speakers, which means you can enjoy your music on the beach, in the shower or in the swimming pool. Despite the high price, they promise high-quality sound and a wide range of features, but these are just some of the features you can enjoy with a $200 Bluetooth speaker.

If you want to add Bluetooth functionality to a non-Bluetooth system, you will need to purchase a cable adapter or receiver. Bose, for example, offers the SoundLink Bluetooth receiver, which helps you connect your non-Bose speakers via an app. Bluetooth speakers are smaller and cheaper, but if you wanted to integrate a speaker into a larger sound system, you would probably want a more powerful speaker, such as a high-end speaker system or wireless speaker.

We live in truly incredible times, when our homes are full of smart speakers, smartwatches, fully connected TVs and even smartphones. Wireless speakers come in many forms, but the main difference lies in the wireless protocol used. Bluetooth chips are integrated into almost every smartphone and computer on the market, making it easy to connect. Bluetooth signals require less energy, which is why most Bluetooth speakers have a decent to good battery life. Older Bluetooth devices had poor audio resolution, but newer Bluetooth devices have solved the problem of producing sound quality at the level of a CD.

Bluetooth is a point-to-point radio system that pairs a transmitter (your phone or computer) with a receiver (a speaker) to play music. Bluetooth has a multiroom trick, as each speaker can be set up as a stereo pair, so you can create stereo pairs with others in the same room or even in different rooms. It’s the most popular wireless music streaming system on the market, but it’s not the only one.

You also never know how long a smart connected device will work before its manufacturer considers it obsolete. Although you can’t deny the benefits of wireless speakers, especially when you’re away from home or moving from room to room, they don’t deliver the same sound quality as a wired speaker or even a portable one.
